Former big leaguer Kang Jeong-ho caught a foul ball while in the stands to watch junior Kim Ha-sung play.
During the 2023 Major League Baseball 안전놀이터 (MLB) World Series game between the San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates at Petco Park in San Diego, California, U.S., on June 25 (Tuesday), Jung-ho Kang caught a ball that flew into the stands with his bare hands.
The catch brought cheers from the baseball fans around him.
The local broadcaster said, “Look at this fan. Doesn’t he look like a baseball player? That’s Jung-ho Kang, who played for Pittsburgh,” and laughed.
Local media outlet The Athletic also shared the news on social media, saying, “Kang Jeong-ho, who played in Pittsburgh, caught a foul ball with one hand in the stands.”
Kang Jeong-ho was a star player for the Nexen Heroes and MLB Pittsburgh from 2015 to 2019, but his career was marred by a drunk driving scandal and he retired in disgrace.
On this day, Kang Jung-ho reportedly visited the stadium to support Kim Ha-seong, a junior who played for Nexen.
