Darvish surpasses Nomo…most Ks by a big leaguer from Japan

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish outdueled Hideo Nomo.

Darvish left the mound after 토토사이트 giving up four runs on eight hits, one home run, one walk, and six strikeouts in seven innings of work against the Baltimore Orioles at Petco Park in San Diego, California, on Friday.

In the sixth inning, he struck out the first batter he faced, Ryan Mountcastle, on a wild pitch and then struck out Ramon Urias again on a wild pitch with the bases loaded to make history.

Nomo’s record of 323 games and 1976 1/3 innings in 12 seasons in the majors was surpassed by Darvish in 11 seasons and 264 games and 1615 1/3 innings.

Darvish did it with the previous record holder, Nomo, watching in person, adding to the significance.

Darvish, however, took the loss with his team trailing 1-4.

After giving up a solo home run to Ryan O’Hearn in the second inning, he gave up a run-scoring double to Gunnar Henderson in left field with one out in the fifth.
